App development

Mac app development

A Mac app is software that lives on macOS - a menu bar helper, a document tool, or a full app people open every day. Native Mac apps feel fast and familiar because they use Apple's own frameworks, and they can do things a browser cannot: sit in the menu bar, add widgets, sync over iCloud, and work offline. We build Mac apps with Apple's own tools, get them signed and ready for the Mac App Store, and make sure they respect the platform. FileClipSync, one of our own live products, is a native Mac app that moves files to your phone in one drag.

FileClipSync running as a Mac app

Why it is a good fit

  • A native macOS app, built with Apple's own tools
  • Lives in the menu bar or as a full window - whatever fits
  • Ready for the Mac App Store, or a direct download
  • Widgets, notifications and iCloud sync where they help
  • Works offline and feels fast, because it runs on the device
  • Signed and notarised so it installs cleanly

What you get

  • Built for macOS
  • Ready for the App Store
  • Menu bar & widgets
  • Syncs over iCloud

One fixed price, one clear list of what you get, and the app is yours to keep once it is paid for.

How we build it

Four simple steps, so you always know what is happening.

01

Get to know it

First we learn your idea, who it is for, and what it needs to do. Then we agree on a plan and a timeline.

02

Draw the screens

We draw the screens so you can see and try the app before we write any code.

03

Build it

We build it in small steps and show you often, so you always know how it is going.

04

Launch it

We put it live - App Store, Google Play, or the web - and help you after launch.

Good questions

Before you ask

Do you build native Mac apps or wrapped web apps? +
Native, using Apple's own frameworks. That is what makes a Mac app feel fast and at home, and lets it use things like the menu bar, widgets and iCloud.
Can you get it onto the Mac App Store? +
Yes. We handle the listing, screenshots, signing, notarisation and the review questions Apple asks. We can also set it up for direct download outside the store.
Can the Mac app share features with an iPhone version? +
Yes. When you want both, we share code between the Mac and iPhone apps where it makes sense, so features and design stay in step and cost less to build.
